Yes, we did go on a gondola ride! My favorite part of Venice for sure. He even sang to us =)

After Bologna we headed up to Venice where we saw work of Michelangelo and Davinci. But as you walk out of the train station the water your surrounded by the water, and the different shades of yellows, blues and reds of the buildings reflecting onto the water.

The streets were lined with these arcades that went on forever. They were especially useful to shelter us from the blizzard that day and keep us somewhat dry

The next stop was Bologna

The view from the top of the Duomo
Ponte Vecchio .. out of all the bridges i've seen so far this is by far my favorite. When walking through the bridge it is lined on both sides with these beautiful jewelery stores and in the very cent is a statue with a fence around it. It is said that if you write yours and your "lovers" name on a lock and lock it to the fence your love will last forever. So romantic.

The Duomo
The first day of our trip we went to Florence and spent two nights there
We were able to see the statue of david. When we entered david was in the back of the room and to get to him were all these other pieces that michelangelo never finished so it was literally a block of marble where you could see parts of the mens bodies halfway carved out or a start of a foot or his neck. It was awesome to see it in progress. The statue of david was flawless, it was just really amazing to actually be standing in front of it all or eating lunch in front of the Duomo. An unreal experience.
