The Streets of Naples
The Spanish Corridor

We started out the southern Italy trip in Naples where we stayed at Hotel Mediterraneo for two nights. Def. the best hotel we've stayed in this entire trip. It had a beautiful view of the bay and the city from the roof. The first day we sketched in Naples and walked around. The second day we took a ferry to Capri and spent the day there. We spent the majority of the day in casa malaparte where we did a day sketching assignment. That day was amazing, the views from the house were beautiful! so glad we were able to tour the house and spend the day. The next day we had a tour of Baia and Pozzuoli and stayed that night and the following in Castellemare at the institute. The next morning we went to Pompeii then spent the rest of the day in sorrento. Pompeii was really interesting to see. It was literally the ruins of the entire city and there were even some bodies that remained covered from the ash. Overall the trip was alot of fun, the weather was really nice and we were able to see alot. Unfortunately it was our last trip of the semester, but a perfect way to end it.

Second Project

SECOND PROJECT - Urban Design: Street, Square and Block
Working in groups of two we were to design a new quarter in the city of Rome, Our site was South of Trastever between Vialle Trastevere and the Tiber River
Objective was to create:
- a hierarchy of streets
- a hierarchy of urban space
- to weave the design into the existing fabric of
the surrounding city
- well planned urban spaces for people
- to allow for appropriate urban settings for important
built or natural features of the existing site
